RTÉ Announce The GAA Fixtures Deal That Fans Have Been Waiting For Since Forever

For someone like me working up in Dublin, trying to follow my home county around the country during the League campaign can be challenging.

I try to get to at least 5 of the 7 games but work and life in general often gets in the way of my GAA viewing.

Same goes for club action. The biggest of GAA head wants next to near unlimited club action of the television.

Even someone from the depths of Kerry will still be extremely interested in the footballing and hurling events of Ulster.

And in fairness to TG4, they’ve been doing soldier work over the past few years in trying to cover both, offering viewers live and deferred action of National League and club football.

And finally, they’re getting a helping hand from RTE.

The National Broadcaster announced on Thursday that it “will broadcast live television coverage of Allianz League and club championship matches for the next three years.

The new agreement runs from 2019 until 2022.

eir sport will continue to be the home of Saturday Allianz League games under lights, a role it has been proud to establish and develop since 2005.

eir sport will broadcast at least two games each weekend from January 26th this season, with a full list of these fixtures to be announced next week.

Four of these matches will be simulcast by RTÉ. While eir sport will act as host broadcaster, RTÉ will have its own editorial, presentation and punditry teams to bring its own style and expertise to the coverage.

RTÉ’s live club championship coverage will run alongside TG4’s coverage.

“In increasing RTÉ’s live coverage of Gaelic Games across the GAA calendar year, we are reaffirming our commitment to bringing national moments to a national audience, free-to-air and guaranteeing coverage on RTÉ television for nine months of the year for the next three years.”

Great success, we’re looking forward to wall to wall coverage of the National Football and Hurling League as well as extra coverage of club championship games.

One GAA dream finally coming through.
