It has been announced by the national broadcaster that they will be launching a brand new channel in February.

From February 13, people will be able to catch up with the activity they might have missed on RTÉ’s second channel as they unveil their new station RTÉ2+1.

The channel runs daily from 7pm until 2am and while you won’t be able to catch Neighbours on the station initially, The Simpsons and Home And Away will be watchable.

Ideal for those who are currently missing the Australian soap as they try and make their trek home from work.

They have also said that RTE One +1 will now be extended to a 24 hour service starting from February 13 also.

RTÉ has come a long way since it was founded in 1960. It now has 8 channels to its name including: RTÉ One, RTÉ One+1, RTÉ One HD, RTÉ2, RTÉ2 HD, RTÉ2+1, RTÉ News Now and RTÉjr.

The channel is launching at the perrrrrfect time for sports fans too. The first leg of the second rounds of the Champions League start the week of the 12th and 13th of February.

So you don’t have to fear about missing any highlights if you’re late back from training or finishing work late.
