Uh Oh – Experts Say A Shortage Of Beer Could Be On The Way

Jen

No, just no.

Our beloved beer is in danger of running out this summer as fears over the production of Co2 in Europe emerged last weekend.

According to the Irish Times, there is a shortage among the biggest suppliers in northwest Europe right now. So long, pints in the pub watching the World Cup.

Brigid Simmonds, chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association, representing large brewers has said, “given the time of year and the World Cup, this situation has arisen at an unfortunate time for the brewing industry”.

“We are aware of a situation affecting the availability of CO2 across Europe, which has now started to impact beer producers in the UK.”

The shortage is a result of at least five gas producers shutting down for summer maintenance.

Major suppliers of liquid Co2 have been affected by this, but the UK is the hardest hit with just one Co2 plant operating.

You know what to do, get down to the offy asap.
