Concertgoers at Slane Castle left a shocking amount of litter behind after the show on Saturday night.
Metallica played an incredible set to a sold-out crowd of 75,000 people, which sadly resulted in thousands of plastic cups being discarded.
In photos shared in the aftermath of the gig, a sea of plastic pint glasses, abandoned ponchos and other bits of rubbish can be seen lying on the grass in front of the stage.
This hurts my eyes 👀 😞 these images were at #Slane. I hope #electricpicnic and #bodyandsoul will have more bins in place after seeing this and I hope the people going use them. Anyone camping bring black bags and use them instead of littering outside the tent ⛺️ pic.twitter.com/2b1EhIFvtZ

My Waste Ireland also shared the photos and commented, ‘We were sent these images of the aftermath and are in shock.
‘This needs to stop, a deposit refund scheme needs to be put in place at all large outdoor events.’
Metallica made headlines this week after it was announced that they had donated a massive €35,000 to the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin, as well as another €35,000 to Childline over the weekend.
