‘So much litter left behind’ Bray Head cafe cleans up after weekend Air Show

Fiona Frawley

Brew With a View staff picked up bags of litter from Bray Head after Sunday’s Air Display.

As further highlighted by the now infamous DART drama over the weekend, the Air Show is always one of the busiest days for Bray seafront. People turn out in their thousands to spread their picnic blankets in a decent spot to enjoy all the action from, with some opting to make the climb up Bray Head for a better vantage point.

Sadly, the oft-proclaimed “leave no trace” mantra wasn’t a feature of the day, as Brew With a View staff were left to clean the rubbish that was left behind after the event.

The popular vintage coffee van operates on Bray Head every Friday – Sunday as well as bank holiday Mondays, serving up locally roasted coffee and treats and, as the name suggests, boasting incredible views of Bray seafront, the Dublin coastline and beyond to accompany.

As well as hikers and coffee lovers, bovine visitors are a regular occurrence.

In a post describing the rubbishy post-Air Show scenes, the Brew With a View team wrote:

Renato was out doing a clean up after the Bray Air Display weekend. Really disappointed to have found so much litter left behind and thrown around our beautiful Bray Head.

Glad to get this done as we’d hate for the cows to ingest any of this waste and something awful to happen.

This is the latest in a string of excessive litter being left behind at beauty spots – Fingal County Council had to deploy extra staff to clean up Burrow Beach after a particularly sunny day recently, meanwhile litter at Sandycove Beach was repurposed for rescue seals.
