Katie Taylor’s First Professional Boxing Opponent Has Been Confirmed

James Fenton

Last month, it was confirmed that Ireland’s golden girl Katie Taylor was leaving amateur boxing behind in pursuit of a professional career.

We can report that her first opponent since the decision has been confirmed as 27-year-old Polish fighter Karina Kopinska.

The bout will take place at the SSE Arena in London on Saturday the 26th of November.

30-year-old Taylor’s amateur career saw her claim five world titles, six European titles and, most notably, gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

Judging by the video below, the Bray boxer certainly looks fit and raring to ahead of her pro debut.

Following on from the fight against Kopinska, Taylor will then head to the Manchester Arena on 10th of December to fight on the undercard of the IBF world heavyweight title defence of British boxer and fellow Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua.

We’ll certainly be tuning in on both occasions. G’wan Katie!
