Your typical weekend adventures just aren’t cutting it anymore, and it’s time to mix it up. You’re craving heights, speed, nature, and complete and total terror. Here are a few ideas to spice up your month.
Skydiving
Why go see a movie with your friend when you could be falling thousands of feet from a plane? The Irish Parachute Club is the oldest sky diving provider in Ireland and offers solo, assisted, or tandem jumps. They’re located in Edenderry within County Offaly. Solo jump vouchers are €260 and tandem jump vouchers are €280.
A bit pricey, but how many times will you jump out of a plane in your lifetime, eh?
Coasteering
Coasteering is an adventure sport that combines climbing, cliff jumping, and swimming on a rocky coastline. You’re pretty much falling and getting tossed around by waves…but for fun this time.
Adventure West provides sessions for €40 euros per adult, and the setting in County Mayo is absolutely gorgeous.

Ziplining
Castlecomer Discovering Park in Kilkenny has Ireland’s longest over-water zipline, as well as a high ropes course. The zipline is €15 per person, or you can climb the advanced ropes course for the same price.
The bundle for both is just €25 per person.
Hot Air Ballooning
Because after watching the movie “Up”, we’ve all been dying to ride in one. Irish Balloon Flights leave from locations in County Meath, Athlone, and Kilkenny.
Weekday vouchers are €175, or you can ride on a weekend for €195. You can also get discounts for adding more members to your group.
River Rafting
Rafting.ie offers rafting trips, starting just 20 miles from Dublin city centre. Trips are priced at €299 per raft (rather than per person, so you can split the cost with friends).
Note: If you prefer tubing vs rafting, Outdoor Discovery offers tubing options down the River Inny in Ballymahon!
Ballyhoura Mountain Biking
Work on those glutes while getting some speed. Ballyhoura has 98km of trails for off-road cycling.
Check out Ballyhoura Trailriders for bike rentals, maps, and training courses.

Microlighting
If you haven’t heard of a microlight, it’s pretty much a mini, lightweight aircraft that gives you more of an open air feeling. How can something be so terrifying and wonderful all at once? Extreme Sports Ireland provides microlight lessons and flights out of Laois.
You can grab a ride of 45 minutes for €99, or 80 minutes for €165.
Enjoy the rush, and stay safe out there.
