At last night’s FAI Football Awards, Robbie Keane was unsurprisingly inducted into the Irish football hall of fame.

Given that he’s our record appearance holder and goalscorer with 68 goals in 146 games, not many people would argue.

Not even bonafide football superstar and genuine contender for greatest player of all time, Brazilian legend Pelé, it would seem.

The three-time World Cup winner took Robbie aback when he appeared at the end of a tribute video which also featured Robbie’s former club teammates Steven Gerrard, Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov:

Not bad praise if you can get it. There was also a tribute montage of Robbie’s career which featured tearjerking memories of his most fabled moments as well as a few words from his son Robert Jr:

The praise is all justified as Robbie has certainly earned his place among the pantheon of Irish sporting greats.

In other news form the FAI Awards, Euro 2016 hero Robbie Brady won the Senior International Men’s Player Of The Year Award while Karen Duggan took home the women’s prize.
