An Taoiseach Micheál Martin has moved to ease speculation that the Government is looking at allowing Croke Park to hold 30,000 people at the All-Ireland Finals this autumn.
Reports on Sunday suggested that plans were in place to allow up to 30,000 supporters at the All-Ireland Finals this coming August, with a return to sporting events penned in for July.
The Irish Daily Mail said that ‘Phase One it will see a five percent capacity return and could be in place as soon as July and Phase Two will boost numbers but adopting the two metre social distancing rule. It is thought by August that Phase 3 will be in place where social distance will be reduced to one metre.’
However, Micheál Martin said told The Claire Byrne Show today that “by the time the All-Irelands will be played we will have advanced vaccinations much more significantly then. Again I’m not getting into specifics around numbers, some people are speculating around those numbers but a cautious approach will apply there.”
He added that the Government will take “it step by step, let’s see how the impact of this variant works out.”
