We suppose ‘Anti-Austerity Alliance’ was a bit of a mouthful.
From today the group will be known by the much simpler name of ‘Solidarity’.
‘Solidarity ‘(we better get used to it) TD Paul Murphy told the Irish TImes:
“We think the name Solidarity is more appropriate – our current struggles are not just economic, but include big social movements”
‘Solidarity’ currently has three TDs namely Paul Murphy, Ruth Coppinger and Mick Barry and the party the group belongs to will now be known as ‘Solidarity-People Before Profit’ rather than ‘The Anti-Austerity Alliance-People Before Profit’ *takes breath*.
So there you have it. What do you think of the name change? Let us know in the comments.
