A 21-year-old student from Athboy who had been missing in Vienna has been found dead by Austrian search teams.
De Standard, an Austrian publication, is reporting that the body of Ross Hanlon was found in the canal by divers at 2.30pm this afternoon in the area of the Freda Meissner Blue Promenade.
The promenade is nearby to Flex nightclub which is where it’s reported Ross had last been seen, after spending some time inside there with two friends while on a weekend trip last Friday.
Ross Hanlon’s family and friends had gone to Vienna this week to join in a search. Austrian police had focused their searches on the canal after assuming that the student had possibly fell into the water after leaving the nightclub.
His death is being treated as a tragic accident.
