The Record-Breaking Weather Stats For June Prove Just What A Glorious Month It Was

James Fenton

Nobody who was in Ireland on the weekend of June 17 and 18 will ever forget the amazing weather we had. People sunbathed, swam and generally acted the maggot all around the country and the rest of the month wasn’t bad either.

According to stats released by Met Éireann, 2017 had the warmest summer solstice since 1961 with temperatures reaching 28 degrees on June 21.

In total, there were a whopping 93.8 hours of sunshine over the course of the month while the sunniest days of the month were reported at both Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford and Cork Airport with 15.9 hours in both places on June 18.

Let’s hope it continues into July.
