Most Irish people are planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve at home this year, according to a new study.
According to The Irish Mirror, the New Years Eve Traditions Report found that 81 per cent of people are planning to welcome in 2017 at home, citing overpriced food and drink as the main motivating factor behind their decision.
A quarter of those surveyed said that they didn’t feel like celebrating the year just gone, while 39 per cent per cent said they don’t even plan to stay up under midnight on Saturday night.
64 per cent of people said they had a lack of money after Christmas, while 41 per cent blamed festive tiredness for staying at home.
