Ray D’Arcy’s prime time, Saturday night slot is set to be cut short as Tommy Tiernan steps in from January 4.

D’arcy, who earns €450,000 yearly, is set to take a break in late December while Tiernan is set to step in for a 10-week stint after huge success with his own show over the summer which gathered an audience of over 300,000.

According to the Independent, ‘RTÉ is seeking €120,000 in sponsorship for a new Saturday night slot’.

‘An RTÉ spokesperson said D’Arcy would still be returning to the channel in 2020 and they were “very happy” with the ratings for his Saturday night show.’

On top of this, RTÉ is on the hunt for a female host for a new Saturday night show and it’s currently in pre-production with five different presenters being screen-tested.

It’s all go over there and we are looking forward to a few new exciting projects.
