TWEETS: Irish Fans Weren’t Too Happy With That Defeat To Iceland

We may have started last night’s friendly with a lot of first team players missing and two debutants in the starting line-up but the general consensus is Ireland should have been better.

The Boys In Green fell to a 1-0 defeat to Iceland, our first loss at the Aviva Stadium since we lost to Turkey in May 2014.

There were some decent individual performances, in particular from Johnny Hayes and Daryl Horgan when he came on but despite there not being much at stake, people generally weren’t too happy with what they saw:

We suppose this tells us that expectations have been raised if we’re disappointed to lose to the Euro 2016 quarter-finalists and an all-round decent football nation.

The main thing is that after the draw with Wales on Friday, we’re still unbeaten in World Cup Qualifying which is what really matters.

Let’s hope we can improve on tonight’s performance when Austria come to town in June.
