It looks like a trip to the pictures could be back on the table sooner than was first expected.
We’ve completed most of Netflix, Disney+ and what have you by now and while watching a film in bed or curling up on the couch with a blanket and your favourite flick certainly has its appeal, the prospect of going back to the cinema is far more alluring.
In fact, the whole affair sounds almost exotic – the equivalent of a trip to France these days. Ok, I exaggerate but going to the pictures is a luxury we’ve greatly missed over the past few months and one that we’re delira to hear will be making a grand return next month.
It was originally thought that cinemas wouldn’t be allowed to reopen until phase 5, but Leo Varadkar has since confirmed that there won’t be a phase 5 – meaning that a number of proposed dates will be brought forward. While the Government has yet to officially confirm whether cinemas will be included under phase 3 or phase 4 of the roadmap, it seems likely that they’ll fall under the latter putting the proposed date at July 20th.
We can almost taste the cinema popcorn. What a buzz.
