An Urgent Recall Of A Baby Rattle Toy Has Been Issued

Vtech Electronics Europe plc is recalling a children’s toy due to fears that it could be unsafe.

The ‘Shake and Sing Elephant Rattle’ has been sold in various toy stores in the Republic of Ireland, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

The CCPC say that an issue with the popular Irish toy would arise if one of the elephant’s ears was to come off, after which a metal rod would be exposed.

The statement read: “In case of strong torsion of the ear or of violent shock against a hard surface, it may happen that one ear of the rattle elephant breaks, exposing a metal rod.”

“This metal rod remains attached to the toy but may perhaps cause some minor wounds on the skin of a young baby.”

Anyone who has purchased this toy is advised to return it to the store where it was bought and a full refund should be given.
