Videos Posted On Social Media Of Lidl Looting Incident Lead Gardai To 20 People

The investigation into the looting of a Lidl in Fortunestown, Tallaght, during Storm Emma has led to the arrests of eight men and The Journal is reporting that Gardai expect to arrest at least 20 more people. 

Footage from the incident was recorded by several people involved in the incident, with potentially incriminating evidence shared on Snapchat, WhatsApp and Facebook. 

Gardai are currently looking through social media and Lidl’s CCTV system and have reportedly identified several people. 

Some videos show a JCB digger attempting to open the supermarket’s safe while other people have shared videos of themselves looting the supermarket and even boasting about what they have stolen, going through the items in the Lidl bags.
