David Matthews, father of Vogue Williams’ fiancé Spencer Matthews, has reportedly been charged with rape of a minor.
The 74-year-old, who is also father to Pippa Middleton’s husband James Matthews, was charged in France with the rape of a minor, AFP reported on Friday.
The multi-millionaire was taken into custody last Tuesday after a relative reported him to police, according to legal sources cited by AFP.
The complaint was reportedly lodged in 2017 and refers to a case dating from 1998-99.
A Paris judicial official said: “I confirm that David M was placed in police custody on 27 March at the Brigade for the Protection of Minors Protection.
“Following his arrest, the Paris public prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation, overlooked by an examining magistrate, who charged him with the rape of a minor.
“He was placed under judicial supervision by the investigating judge.
“The investigation alleges that the crimes were committed in 1998 and 1999.
“The investigations will now continue as a judicial investigation and will be led by an investigating judge.”
Matthews denies the allegations.
