WATCH: Enda Kenny Issues Rallying Cry To Mayo Footballers Ahead Of The All-Ireland Final

James Fenton

Move over, Stephen Rochford. Someone’s after your role as manager of the Mayo Seniors.

Ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland Football Final, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has released a video in which he backs his home county to take home their first Sam Maguire Cup since 1951.

During the almost two-minute long speech, Enda references the ‘blood, sweat and many, many tears’ that Mayo players have put in over the past 65 years, during which they’ve lost seven finals.

Many, many tears? No need to rub it in.

He also urges the current squad to ‘end the hunger burning inside every man, woman and child in the county at home and abroad.’

No pressure, lads.

Mayo face Dublin in the final on Sunday. Whether Enda repeats his Bruce Springsteen dad dancing remains to be seen.
