Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for eight counties.
Fresh from the snow/ice warning issued over the weekend, Met Eireann have now issued a rainfall warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.
“Heavy rain will push northeastwards on Wednesday with rainfall accumulations of 30-40mm expected with the risk of localised flooding,” a spokesperson for the national forecaster said.
The rainfall warning was issued at 10am on Tuesday morning and comes into effect at 4am on Wednesday morning, lasting until 7pm that night.
With temperatures set to drop to -2 degrees overnight in parts of Ireland, it bears reminding to be careful on the roads.
While Met Eireann have not mentioned the potential for black ice in their national forecast, Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather has warned motorists to exercise caution as roads may appear wet from the rain, when they could actually be coated in black ice.
