Kiara Keane

Bad news for your weekend plans – you can expect to see plenty of rain and even flooding in some parts of Ireland this weekend.

While parts of the country will get highs of 18°C today, that’ll soon be a distant memory according to the latest Met Éireann forecast.

They said: “A spell of persistent rain will move into Atlantic coastal areas later today.

“Top temperatures of 14°C to 18°C, in mostly light west to southwesterly breezes.

“There will be cloudy, misty weather in all areas overnight, with persistent rain becoming fairly widespread.

“The rain will turn quite heavy over parts of Munster, with a risk of spot flooding. Some hill and coastal fog also. Lowest temperatures 10°C to 12°C.

They added: “Sunday will see some showery rain in Atlantic coastal counties, but mainly dry and bright elsewhere, with occasional sunny spells.”

So make sure you dig out that brolly…
