Planning a pre-summer staycation?
This is the perfect time of the year to round up friends and family; the evenings are brighter, everyone's in a good mood and looking for some kind of occasion to celebrate that.
There are some absolutely stunning places in Ireland but one of the most underrated of all is Co. Mayo. It is home to various mountains, sweeping vistas, 365 islands and of course, some luxurious hotels.
The Ice House rests on the Wild Atlantic Way in North Mayo. They have recently announced some new stunning food options and packages so there's no better time to go.
Light, bright and with gorgeous views over the River Moy, The Ice House has a special space newly dedicated to afternoon tea, where the classic leisurely afternoon pleasure has been addressed in his own inimitable style by Head Chef Anthony Holland and his culinary team.
Served daily from 2pm – 5pm, afternoon tea at The Ice House includes finger sandwiches featuring Ice House baked gammon & the exceptional local Dozio Ella cheese, Connemara smoked salmon on homemade treacle bread with citrus crème fraîche, cucumber & herb cream cheese and spiced Coronation chicken mini brioche.
With homemade buttermilk and fruit scones with house jams, lemon curd and Chantilly cream, and a delectable selection of dainty macarons, mini cakes and bite-sized desserts, this is a reassuringly elegant and traditional afternoon tea, focusing on flavour, firm favourites and excellent local ingredients.
With a selection of fine teas and coffees, afternoon tea at The Ice House is €25 per person, with prosecco for €32 per person and Champagne for €37 per person, and advance booking is required.
