‘Micro-Volunteering’ Is A Trend That Lets You Make A Big Difference In A Small Amount Of Time

seank

You can do something right now that genuinely helps your fellow man — you won’t need to spend any money and you only require a tiny amount of time.

Research has shown that volunteering has a variety of benefits for individuals, such as increasing social connectedness, stress reduction and even lengthening lifespans. It’s human nature to care about others, but in our fast-paced lives its difficult to make the time to make a difference to those in need.

But what if I told you that you didn’t need hours to help people, but mere seconds? It’s fair to say that anyone could make a minute from their day to help those in need… and that’s what ‘micro-volunteering’ is all about.

As the name suggests, this is like a smaller version of traditional volunteering, with the beauty being that it can be done anywhere and anytime at your convenience via phone or computer. If thousands of us gave just one minute of our time a day, our combined efforts would be hugely impactful.

Initiatives such as Dairygold’s Make A Minute provide a variety of easy ways for you to make a serious difference. You can brighten up the day of sick children, be a remote aid for the blind, help protect endangered species and more.

Here are six organisations you can micro-volunteer with right now…

Be My Eyes — Support the visually impaired

Be My Eyes connects blind and low vision people with sighted volunteers who can give them visual assistance through a live video call.
