The New Samsung Galaxy S9’s Camera Adapts Like The Human Eye — And It’s About To Be Released In Ireland

seank

If the ‘Beast From The East’ has taught us anything, it’s that pretty much everyone thinks they’re a photographer/cinematographer these days.

If you’re one of those people, and we bet you are, then you’re probably gonna want to know about the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, which are being released in Ireland on March 16.

Why should amateur photographers care, you ask?

Because the camera on these things have been tricked out with a tonne of special features to set it apart, such as:

Low light camera

By mimicking the way the iris of a human eye expands and contracts, Samsung’s Dual Aperture allows the camera to adjust to lighting conditions that are too dark or too bright to make a pic that’s still clearly visible.

Super Slow-mo

Would-be filmmakers will not only be able to shoot slow videos that capture 960 frames per second, but they can also add a soundtrack of their choosing or convert their clips into GIFs. There’s also a handy motion detection feature that allows your phone to automatically start recording as soon as someone steps into frame.

AR Emoji

Emojis are the past, augmented reality (AR) emojis are the next step forward. These graphics are based on a 2D image of your own visage, so you can finally personalise your winky faces.

Bixby

This bit is particularly futuristic. This intelligence platform integrates with your camera to give you a real-time display of useful information about your surrounding area by simply pointing your phone at stuff. For example, Bixby can translate languages for you instantly and even allows you to purchase products online that you see in the real world.

Galaxy S9 Design Real Design Purple

The camera may be the main event, but the Galaxy S9 has other features that might also tickle your fancy. Since most of us now view our smartphones as a one stop shop for all our entertainment needs, the Galaxy S9 also boasts features like:

Infinity Display

Like the name suggests, the bright screen blends right into the phone with virtually no distracting notches. It comes with adaptive contrast enhancement, meaning it will adjust itself to become easily visible to a user even in direct sunlight.

Stereo speakers tuned by AKG

Since you might be listening to your favourite album or watching a new movie on your phone, you probably want speakers that are clear and crisp in quality. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ support Dolby Atmos which gives the effect of 360-degree sound, as if you were in a cinema or at a concert.

Other important features

  • The first smartphone to support the new SmartThings app, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the central hub to manage every facet of the connected lifestyle at home, at the office or on the go.
  • IP68 water and dust resistance.
  • Wireless charging.
  • Expandable memory of up to 400GB with a Micro SD Card.
  • Protected by Knox 3.1, Samsung’s latest defence-grade security platform.
  • The Galaxy S9 and S9+ support three different biometric authentication options — iris, fingerprint, and facial recognition.
  • An improved optical sensor which keeps track of users’ Heart Load Factor, a new measurement of the real-time demand placed on your heart.
