Tips to help you succeed at Veganuary

Fancy trying your hand at becoming vegan in 2021? It’s hard to know where to start, so we decided that we’d come up with some tips that will hopefully help you along your Veganuary journey.

We have teamed up with Mude, the 100% vegan SuperLiquids designed around your day, to help you with Veganuary. Mude drinks are designed to strengthen your immune system through the immunoboost formula of B Vitamins, Minerals, Polyphenols and an immunity strengthening molecule called beta-glucan.

Studies have shown that veganism is one of the best ways to live a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly lifestyle while also looking after your own physical and mental health, and reduces the risk of some of the world’s biggest killers including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and some cancers.

So without further ado, here are five tips and tricks to help you kick start your Veganuary.

The right snacks and refreshments

Veganuary doesn’t necessarily mean sacrifice, because there are so many vegan-friendly snacks and drinks on the market right now. Mude Drinks offer functional benefits, natural energy, relaxation, focus and better sleep.

Made from all-natural ingredients (plants, vitamins and water), the Mude range offers five functional drinks powered by The Naked Collective’s SuperLiquid and ImmunoBoost technology to help you take control of your day: Chill, Sleep, Play, Work and ImmunoBoost. All are low in calories and sugar and all of their packagings are 100% recyclable or compostable.

Instagram accounts to follow

Luckily, there is quite a big online vegetarian and vegan community. So there are loads of accounts you can follow to get recipe inspiration, snack ideas and more. The Vegalz are great for restaurant and takeaway recommendations as well as finding some of the tastiest vegan bits in the supermarket.

Meanwhile, the sustainable queen duo behind The Useless Project are great for the odd recipe and home-cooking tutorial. Veg and Vegan Dublin also provides us with great vegan foodie finds.

TikTok foodie hacks

You might think TikTok is just for dancing and having a giggle. But you can actually find some class vegan recipe ideas there.

This five-ingredient pasta looks particularly delicious. Just search #veganrecipe on TikTok and you’ll get a flood of inspiration and tutorials.

Find the most delicious vegan takeaways

Perhaps one of the biggest myths to do with veganism is that you’ll just have to eat leaves for the rest of your life, which is simply not the case. My weekend takeaway is what I live for during the week, and loads of places have stunning vegan options.

The Vegan Sandwich Co in Smithfield won Best Takeaway Vegan at the Just Eat National Takeaway Awards, but there are plenty of other spots around the country with vegan goodness, such as Camile, Umi Falafel, V-Face and even Domino’s.

Take inspiration from Netflix

There is an abundance of great documentaries and features on Netflix to teach us about health, wellbeing and veganism.

What The Health examines the link between diet and disease, while The Game Changers meets visionary athletes, UFC fighters and scientists to uncover an optimal diet for human health and performance. Simply search ‘vegan’ on Netflix and you’ll come across loads of content to do with health, diet and wellness.
