Homelessness in Ireland is still a pressing issue. In the month of April, there’s a way you can help.
Life has been turbulent for the past year, and we’re all starting to feel it. Life was suddenly upended and many of us are starting to feel exhausted from everything this mad moment in history has thrown at us.
For those experiencing homelessness in Ireland, that has never been more true.
If we’ve learned one thing from this crazy time, it’s the importance of community and helping each other when times get tough. For the month of April, there is a wonderful way you can do just that.
‘The Next Step‘ is Focus Ireland’s Virtual Marathon supported by Horizon. And because it’s virtual, it’s highly accessible to anyone who wants to take part.
What’s involved?
Whether you want to walk, run, jog or stroll, you have the whole month of April to complete a total of 26.2 miles or 42.2 km.
The marathon will be hosted here. When you sign up, Focus Ireland will help you on your journey with a fundraising guide and social media toolkit enabling you to share your progress and request donations from your network.
You’ll receive badges on your fundraising page when you reach certain milestones along the way, and you will feature on the leader board of the website, because who doesn’t enjoy a bit of healthy competition?
Focus Ireland is reminding us that as the pandemic lingers on, so does family homelessness in Ireland. Although we would rather get out of the house to socialise with friends, head into the office for bants with our colleagues and experience everything Ireland has to offer us, many families’ main concern is finding somewhere for their kids to sleep, many of which are living in emergency accommodation without a home of their own.
At the end of the day, every child needs a home of their own.
And you can help. C’mon, lads. Let’s get on our feet and help those experiencing homelessness in Ireland. Head here to sign up and take part.
