Katie Taylor has offered Belgium’s Delfine Persoon a rematch after winning their fight at Madison Square Garden last night.

The Irish boxer was crowned the undisputed lightweight champion of the world, although the incredibly close final score has led to calls for a rematch.

One of the three ringside judges called it at 95-95, while the other two gave it to Katie at 96-94.

Katie told Irish journalists after the match, “I definitely did enough to win, but I’m happy to have a rematch if she wants it. We will see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Katie’s manager Brian Peters commented that Delfine would have to wait her turn as Katie already has more matches lined up, including another in New York.

He said, “We’re always be open to anything. There are so many different factors that have to be taken into consideration.

“We will look at a rematch sure. Would be look at it straight away? Look we are going to do whatever suits us. So far we have done pretty good, so we will stick with our plans.”
