Almost 10,000 Irish Water Customers Warned To Boil Their Water Before Using

Sarah

Almost 10,000 people  in Offaly have been issued a ‘boil water’ notice from Irish Water after E.coli was detected in some samples.

Customers in Birr, Dunkerrik and Banagher have been affected, The Journalreports.

Head of Irish Water operations for the East and Midlands Conor Foley, said on Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1 that they had done further sampling and were waiting on the results today.

As for what’s causing the issue, he said:

We’re not 100% certain of that at the moment, we’re doing a full investigation. We’re doing complete audits of the three plants today .

“Our initial investigations yesterday would indicate that we haven’t had any operational issues or breakdown issues of our processes.”
