The Ultimate Dingle Pub Crawl – 10 Spots You Need To Visit

Dingle is one of the most picturesque places in Ireland by day, but by night it becomes a hotspot for pub-goers.

Expect to see tonnes of hens, stags, groups of friends coming up from the country, families and locals parading the streets and hopping from one bar to the next. That’s the beauty of Dingle really, no pub is more than a poc fada from the next. It’s all old traditional venues, no notions-y neon signs or velour seating, just good old Irish pubs, the way you want them to be.

I headed down to Dingle for Paddy’s weekend and I fell in love with the place. It’s so tiny, there are deadly places to eat and best of all the craic is ninety in the pubs.

A pub crawl during your visit is a MUST – sure that’s the true Irish way to soak up (literally) some culture.

‘Cause I’m super sound, I’ve done the hard work for you, take this list with you and see if you can tick off each pub as you go along:

1. Curran’s

Curran’s is the epitome of a classic old man’s Irish pub. It has the most random layout ever, a long serving-desk at the side of the venue with various garments and other miscellaneous objects that are actually for sale, a weighing scales on top of said desk, a snug that when you open it is filled with bags of potatoes and odd seats.

If you want to go full on Paddy in Dingle you can pick up an iconic farmer hat here too.

The snug is right at the front of the pub and it’s usually jam-packed, so get in early if you want it.

The atmosphere here is buzzing, it’s always filled with chatter. A great spot to start off the pub crawl.

2. Foxy John’s

A pub in a hardware shop, sure what else would you expect in Dingle.

Foxy John’s is serious craic. You’ll find various hardware items hanging from the ceilings, a pint of Guinness on nearly every table and a cosy fireplace to keep you warm.

You’ll often catch guitar sessions here, a great opportunity to get all your mates who can hold a note to bang one out.

3. Dick Macks

Dick Mack’s is like being in four different bars at one time. Up front is your traditional Irish pub but as you continue on through you’ll come across various rooms, snugs and smoking areas.

When I visited I walked into one room to find a woman singing Sean Nós, I then proceeded to the back of the venue where there was techno music blaring from an odd looking shed in the back – completely mad but amazing.

This was one of my favourite stop-offs by far.

4. O’Flaherty’s Pub

O’Flaherty’s is a must when in Dingle.

This open-plan bar is the best place to catch some live trad music and storytelling.

When in Dingle, Dingle Irish Gin is a must – sure it’s the best place to drink it. Pretty much every bar in Dingle sells it too. I tucked into a big icy goblet while I sat in O’ Flaherty’s tapping my feet away to the music – that’s pure happiness right there.

5. Paudie’s Bar

Down by the pier you’ll find Paudie’s Bar.

You miiiight need a bit of soakage when youhalfway way through your crawl. Not to worry, Paudie’s serves up a load of grub.

I have to recommend however, their mussels or fish and chips – sure they were only caught about five feet away from you so you know it’s beyond fresh.

6. Paul Geaney’s Bar

Geaney’s is also a great spot for food with a restaurant at the back.

Up front, it’s a great place to watch the game. It’s also dog-friendly so it’s honestly a dream.

By night, there’s a DJ blaring out the tunes – you could spend the whole day in here if you wanted.

7. Neligan’s Bar

This building has been in the Neligan family for four generations and has been an institute in Dingle for many years. Neligan’s is possibly one of the best pubs in Dingle for trad.

The bar has live music 7 nights a week 364 days of the year and hosts over 600 gigs per year. If you’re up for a jig, there’s also free dance classes every Thursday at 8pm.
