Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother Have Officially Been Cancelled

Kiara Keane

Sad news for fans of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother today as it’s been announced both shows will be ending for good after 18 years.

Channell 5 confirmed via their Twitter account that the final series of Big Brother will begin airing tonight, writing, ‘It’s time for this game to end.’

They added, ‘The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.

‘We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.’

The reality show originally aired on Channel 4 from 2000 until 2010, when it moved to Channel 5.

It’s also been revealed that the final series of Big Brother, which is starting tonight, will have an Irish contestant – a 23-year-old farmer from Tipperary.

His identity hasn’t been revealed yet, although his voice was featured on a new teaser clip where he said, “I deserve a place in the Big Brother house because you have not had a 23-year-old gay farmer from the heart of Ireland.”
