This is going to be a big test as the vote on O’Connell Street has been deferred for a couple of weeks.
This Sunday Limerick is hosting a car-free zone between 2-4 pm.
All traffic between William Street to Roches Street junction on O’Connell Street will be blocked and local authorities say there will be a feast of family fun activities.
This is part of European Mobility week but on top of that, the Council will partner with Limerick Cycling Campaign to host ‘cyclovia’.
This means that the streets will be set out so anyone can bike, skate, rollerblade or walk in a circuit set out.
All residence and shop owners are encouraged to support to make it a memorable day.
Lots of fun activities for Car Free Day in #Limerick including #LimerickCyclovia #CarFreeDayLimerick @LimerickCycling https://t.co/MBp2zaYGma
