Boohoo And TK Maxx Exposed For Selling Real Fur As Fake

Sarah

Customers of popular clothing brands will be devastated to hear that some retailers have been exposed for selling ‘fake fur’ items that are actually made with real fur.

A Sky News investigation discovered that TK Maxx, Boohoo, Amazon, Groupon and Miss Bardo were all advertising items as “faux fur” – when in fact they were made from rabbit, mink and fox.

Sky News has been working alongside charity Humane Society Internation (HSI) to highlight the mass-farmed foreign fur that is being incorrectly labelled as ‘faux’ in UK stores and online.

Their investigation found earrings and two pairs of fur bridal shoes from Boohoo containing mink and rabbit fur

This is despite the company claiming they have a “no fur policy.”

TK Maxx also pledges on its website that “since 2003 we have not sold real animal fur of any type”.

Sky News however, found a coat for sale on its website made from fox fur, and a pom-pom keyring which came back as testing positive for mink fur.

Boohoo said “The items in question were immediately removed from sale and the breach of the policy and its standards is being investigated as a matter of urgency.”

This recent expose comes after online clothing company Misguided was discovered to be selling fake fur items made from cat fur in April.
