Brendan O’Carroll plans to sell bread and sausages at Mrs Brown’s Boys live shows in US

The show has enjoyed a recent surge in popularity stateside.

Mrs. Brown’s Boys is on its way to becoming “a huge hit” in America, a prospect creator Brendan O’Carroll is very excited about.

The actor and writer appeared on RTÉ’s Late Late Show on Friday night, discussing a pending Mrs. Brown’s Boys tour of America and recalling the time he served Margaret Thatcher (more on that later).

“America’s going very, very well,” O’Carroll said. “We’ve a tour lined up in 2025 and that’s really exciting. It’s after taking off on Britbox over there and it’s taken off on Showtime.”

Patrick Kielty then referred to the shows own range of breakfast food, asking “And you’re possibly doing your own brand of Mrs Brown’s bread?”

“Yeah,” Brendan confirms. “Brown bread. We have Mrs Brown sausages at the moment, from Kearns’s. Mrs Brown’s Widow’s Memories. They’re extra large is what I’m saying.

“And we have Mrs Brown’s Bread Mix. In America, when you buy Mrs Brown’s Bread mix you get the bread mix, the tin and the recipe. And you put it together, in the oven. And when you take it out, straight away you’re eating Mrs Brown. Bread.”

O’Carroll then recounted the time he served Margaret Thatcher a whiskey while working for Aer Lingus, being sure to stress that he “didn’t like her – anything she stood for.”

Earlier this year it was announced that Mrs. Brown’s Boys would be making a return to Irish screens with a new season, despite wage disputes and accusations of workplace discrimination.

The new season premiered last month on BBC One.
