Bridgerton fans rejoice! Netflix commissions third and fourth season

Hit Netflix show Bridgerton has been commissioned for a third and fourth season, and we’re pretty delighted about it. Having been one of the most talked-about television shows of 2020, fans seem to be thrilled as well.

Fictional Lady Whistledown said in a statement, “Esteemed members of the Ton. It seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. This author shall have to add more ink.”

The announcement came before production on the second season has even been completed. Netflix previously revealed that Bridgerton was the streaming platform’s biggest series to date, with over a whopping 82 million households worldwide watching in its first month of release.

Set in 1813, the raunchy period drama follows aristocratic family rivalries and made for some fascinating watching.  The first series starred Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan and Regé-Jean Page and was released on Christmas Day.

However, it was recently revealed that Page will not be returning for season two.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes said, “From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience

“This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix.”
