‘Derry Girls’ and ‘The Great British Bake Off’ are getting a crossover

Sarah Finnan

The Bake Off is back baby. As is Derry Girls for that matter.

Two of our favourite shows are about to crossover.

That’s right, stars of the popular show Derry Girls are getting ready to don their aprons and head into The Great British Bake Off tent.

What a time to be alive.

Taking part in the New Year’s Day special, leading cast members Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn and Siobhan McSweeney will attempt to bake it till they make it.

The actors who play Erin, Clare, Michelle, James and Sister Michael will be put through their paces as things heat up in the kitchen.

The show, which will air on Channel 4 On January 1st of next year, will see the cast compete for the coveted title of star baker.

Presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will be on hand for jokes and moral support. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will also return for the show. Their presence may be somewhat less comforting to contestants though.

If anyone is feeling, anxious worried or maybe they just want a chat…please please do not go crying to them.

Nicola Coughlan shared the news on Twitter, sending fans of both shows into a frenzy (myself included).

This is definitely newsworthy enough to make page five of the Derry Journal.
