Emojipedia has answered the prayers of many, and added that their present set of emojis is to grow bigger and more inclusive.

Thanks to Unicode Consortium’s approval of new emojis, you will now be able to feature a breastfeeding mother, a woman wearing a hijab and a T-Rex in your messages to your friends.

Unicode Consortium, the international group that regulates emojis (yep, that’s their entire job) has approved a list of the 51 candidates for the latest update, as part of an effort to make emojis more representative of a wide and diverse user base.

The new set of illustrations includes a woman in a hijab and a woman breastfeeding, alongside a starry-eyed face, a genie and a zombie.

People writing to propose such emojis to Unicode Consortium stated in their proposal:

Emojis are more impactful and utilised than ever before. Millions use them to convey feelings, appearances and stories.

We applaud Unicode for the diversification of emojis in recent years. However, this does not mean it should stop now. With the amount of difference in this world, we must be represented.

We are here to discuss the addition of a HEADSCARF emoji.

The latest emojis won’t be available until much later in 2017.

And we’re delighted.
