Darragh Berry

The Irish Mirror is stating that homeowners need to be careful this Christmas and ensure that rats, mice andĀ cockroaches aren’t unwanted visitors.Ā

New data released by Rentokil shows that cockroach infestation alone has rose by 134% while there has also been a 20% increase in call outs for rats.Ā

Area Technical Manager of Rentokil, Colm Moore said: ā€œCockroaches pose a clear risk to public health and we all have a responsibility to be vigilant to signs of an infestation.

ā€œThe common signs that can help you identify a possible cockroach infestation are, unusual smell, cockroach droppings, smear marks and shed skins.ā€

ā€œChristmas is a time of warmth and abundance and this is true for both your family and pests.

ā€œWith cold weather and lots of leftover food, there are plenty of ways that pests can ruin Christmas for you and your loved ones.

ā€œEnsure that leftover Christmas food is stored properly in the fridge, so you donā€™t attract rodents. Leaving leftover food out in the open is an invitation to hungry mice and rats.ā€
