The 10th April 2018, marks the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. This was the deal between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland to bring an end to The Troubles.

Eight political parties in Northern Ireland as well as involvement from British and Irish Governments were part of the deal which focused on the civil and cultural rights of those in Northern Ireland as well as justice and policing.

It was signed after three decades of sectarian violence between the two divides and Bryan Dobson, famous RTÉ journalist, was present on the morning of the announcement.

He got his own special copy of the Good Friday Agreement which was signed by: Bertie Ahern, Tony Blair, David Trimble and Bill Clinton to name a few.

The Agreement was also signed by Gerry Adams who’s signature stood out from the rest because of its finishing touches.

While most scribbled their first and surnames on the copy, Adams went one better and gave Dobson a cute little ‘xoxo’ above his.

Of course, Gerry’s added gesture didn’t go unnoticed…

Xoxo, Gerry.
