Green, White And Gold – The Tastiest Bagel Ever

lovinmanchester

Ingredients
  • 1 Bagel
  • Cream cheese
  • 1 lemon
  • Smoked salmon
  • Half a red onion
  • Black pepper
  • 1 avocado

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I always have bagels when I’m out and about, rather than making my own toppings at home.

But I wanted to change that habit with this recipe and come up with a beautiful and delicious little something that’s ready in less than 10 minutes.

It not only tastes epic, but it looks absolutely picture-fecking-perfect as well…

Instructions

Step 1

The good news is that there are only 7 ingredients and they keep for ages, so you can store them all the time. The absolute key is a nice ripe avocado.

Step 2

Slice the bagel in half.

Step 3

Pop it into the toaster.

Step 4

Peel the onion and throw half of it back into the fridge.

Step 5

You need to slice it up as thin as possible. Nothing worse than a big chunky piece of onion.

Step 6

Peel the skin off the avocado. Like I said, if the avocado is hard and not ripe, you’re pretty much screwed before you even start.

Step 7

Run your knife around the stone.

Step 8

Remove the stone and you’ll be left with two beautiful halves.

Step 9

Scoop out the cream cheese. You don’t need a lot of it.

Step 10

Squeeze in half the lemon.

Step 11

Squeeze the other half over the avocado, so it doesn’t lose it’s colour.

Step 12

Crack a load of black pepper into the cream cheese and stir it all up.

Step 13

Remove the toasted bagels and that’s it. Time to assemble.

Step 14

Spread the cheese evenly over the bagel.

Step 15

You want enough to cover it, but don’t have it overloaded in cheese. A nice thin layer.

Step 16

Place the avocados on top. Try and keep them straight for the presentation.

Step 17

Sprinkle the onions on top.

Step 18

Place your salmon on top in nice neat little piles. Don’t be messy about it.

Step 19

Squeeze every last drop of juice out of the lemons over the salmon.

Step 20

There you go. Absolutely delicious.

You’d think that this had just been pulled from the pages of some mega fancy Michelin-starred cookbook, but as long as you get a good ripe avocado, yours will also look this good.

What I love about this dish is that it works perfectly for either lunch, brunch, breakfast or even dinner. Another great one to have in your bag to whip out and impress people.
