PIC: ‘Storm Chris’ Becomes A Hurricane And It Could End Ireland’s Heatwave Big Time

Darragh Berry

The likelihood of us saying bye-bye to Ireland’s mini-heatwave is looking more and more likely as Storm Chris has been upgraded to a hurricane status.

The hurricane is currently off the east coast of America and Ireland is set to get the tail end or “remnants” of Chris.

Great.

Facebook page Carlow Weather has said that:

“Tropical Hurricane Chris is causing some of the uncertainty in weather models for next weekend and beyond… The track of Chris could have a big influence on whether we hold our settled warm weather or see a breakdown with some rain beyond next weekend.

“The weekend is looking mainly warm and settled again but until Tropical Storm or possibly Hurricane Chris decides what path he will take, the weather models don’t know how to forecast beyond next week.”

Because the hurricane is so unpredictable, forecasting the exact path it may have is tricky but it is likely that the remainder will come very close to our shores.

Met Éireann for the time being are saying that the weekend will be warm and faily sunny with some cloudy periods at times but no signs of any hurricane-like features just yet.

They are still predicting highs of 20 to 25 degrees from Friday to Sunday and have said that a few light showers are to be expected at the start of next week with some turning heavier as the week progresses.
