Indiependence at Mitchelstown is no more – Festival announces it will not return in 2021

Indiependence has shared the news that it will not be returning to Mitchelstown in 2021, ending a a 15-year relationship with the venue.

Taking to social media this morning, Indiependence posted: ‘We are sad to announce that the 15-year relationship between Indiependence and Mitchelstown is at an end. This is a situation we hoped would never arise, but we have been left with no other option. We have taken the decision to protect the ticketholder funds and ensure that everyone is refunded in time for Christmas.’

It was added that ‘we have had 14 Indie festivals in Mitchelstown, starting with three in the square way back in 2006. We have seen the best of Irish and international talent come to our town over the years; we sang, we danced and, at times, we cried.’

Indiependence took place in Mitchelstown in Cork during the August Bank Holiday weekends. Acts who have performed at the festival include The Blizzards, Ocean Colour Scene, Kodaline, Bell X1, Manic Street Preachers and The Coronas.
