Alleged IRA Member Granted Bail To Go On Holidays In Benidorm

A Belfast man who has been charged in connection with alleged dissident republican activities has been granted bail to go on holidays with his wife.

Belfast Live, who have named the 42-year-old, said that the man is currently awaiting trial on charges of allegedly directing terrorist organisations and being belong to a “proscribed organisation, namely the IRA.”

The man in question has a record with a relevant conviction and the court heard that “the Crown case is that the audio shows that this defendant is a high ranking member of the IRA.

“He was talking about incidents that are in the past and about matters of future planning. This was a structured meeting.”

He applied for and was granted to bail to go on holidays in Benidorm for three days in September.

He is allowed a phone on the holiday but is not allowed access to the internet while using it.

This comes two months after a Dublin man had his bail terms suspended to go on holiday in Ibiza.

The man was arrested in a major drug and weapons seizure in the capital and €140K worth of cocaine was seized.
