PIC: Irish Nightclub Offering Students Shots For 67c Have Been Called “Irresponsible”

September means the start of college all around the Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

For many students, the first week back especially is the most ‘hectic’ when it comes to nights out and Fresher’s Week has become synonymous with people returning to college.

We think it’s fair to say that every student is always broke throughout the college year, there’s nothing cheap about paying rent/college fees and buying books.

So, pre-drinks are often key when it comes to nights out and looking for the best deals when you’re up at the bar is essential.

However, this Irish nightclub has been slated for its promotional deal which sees them sell shots for 67c (60p)

67C Shots

Fourteen in Tomb Street, Belfast offered students a ‘666’ promotion on Monday night which saw them sell shots for just over 50c.

Belfast DUP councillor, Graham Craig, told The Belfast Telegraph that the promotion was “irresponsible”.

“This promotion was brought to my attention by a constituent whose daughter will be starting at Ulster University this month.

“She was appalled that such an alcohol promotion is allowed to happen in this city.

“Thankfully, most publicans now refrain from cheap alcohol promotions. It is disappointing to see that this responsible attitude is not universally adhered to.

The nightclub owner defended the night and said that their staff had gone through drink awareness training in order to make sure students have fun in a controlled environment.

“We don’t let anyone through the door who turns up drunk and we have a priority bookings policy with a local taxi firm to make sure everyone gets home safely.
