Chris Hemsworth and Todd Phillips are set to team up for a Netflix biopic based on the life of wrestler Hulk Hogan.

Joker director Phillips appears to have got his man with Chris Hemsworth set to play the 1980s/1990s wrestling icon in a new Netflix movie. The Thor star will need to start working on his blonde moustache and phrases that were made famous by Hogan such as “Whatcha gonna do, when the Hulkster runs wild on you?”

Speaking to Total Film about the project, Hemsworth said “This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I put on for Thor.”

He added that “there is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude. I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world which I’m really looking forward to.”

Hogan shot to fame in the 1980s as the face of the World Wrestling Federation. He is regarded as one of the most recognisable wrestlers in the history of the company and went on to star in a reality show called Hogan Knows Best alongside members of his family.

Fans could be waiting a while to see Hemsworth transform into the Hulkster, with the actor saying that he has not received his script yet and that the film has “quite a way to go” before production begins.
