Temperatures Will Drop To -1 Tonight As Drastic Weather Change Is On The Way

Darragh Berry

The whole country was freaking out last week as it was announced that Storm Callum was ready to batter Ireland, just one year on from when Storm Ophelia did something similar.

Thankfully, we came out the otherside of the Storm mostly unharmed but if you were expecting the weather to give us a break for a week or two, you’d be wrong.

Met Éireann confirmed this morning that focus has moved from Stormy weather to frosty conditions as temperatures will drop to a cold -1 degrees on Wednesday night.

Wednesday will be “dry tonight with long clear spells. Cold, with some frost setting in and mist patches locally later too. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 3 degrees Celsius.”

The last time temperatures in Ireland received such a dip was at the start of September when it was feared that a snow storm would follow.

Thankfully, we didn’t see any sign of it that time and weather experts don’t seem to be worried about the gauge going into the minus this time either.

But with Ireland’s weather, you just never know, do you?

A Met Eireann forecaster said in September that: “There’s likely going to be snow at some point in the northwest, but we don’t know when.”

And if we get the weather that the UK are expecting, this winter could be horrible entirely.

Some forecasters across the pond are predicting a four-month snow freeze this winter.

We’ll have to wait and see.
