‘Damaging gusts likely’ as Status Orange wind warning issued for Cork and Kerry

A Yellow warning is also in place.

A Status Orange wind weather warning has been put into place in counties Kerry and Cork.

The warning will remain in effect until 8am after coming into effect at 2am.

Met Eireann has said that conditions will remain stormy for some time, with gusts of more than 110km/h.

following this, two Status Yellow wind warnings will coming into effect for the entire country.

A Status Yellow warning for counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway is in place until 5pm.

People are also being warned that very strong west to northwest winds are also developing and will bring gusts of up to 80 to 110km/h.

The national forecaster also said that winds will be much stronger in coastal areas and over higher ground.

Another status yellow wind warning is also set to coming into effect at 8am for Leinster, Mayo, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

This will remain in place until 8pm and Met Eireann has advised of widespread gusts of between 80km/h and 110km/h which will be stronger in more exposed areas.

The UK Met Office has also issued a Yellow warning for counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

This warning will come into effect at 11am and will remain in place until 8pm.
