One World: Together At Home

A collaboration between the World Health Organisation, Global Citizen and Lady Gaga, One World: Together At Home is in support of frontline healthcare staff working tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19.

RTE announced earlier this month that it would broadcast the One World: Together At Home gig. Organised by Global Citizen, the show features an already pretty impressive lineup – with the likes of Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish leading the performers with some of our own now joining the ranks too.

Both Picture This and Niall Horan revealed the news on their respective social media channels last night.

Picture This wrote:

“We’re so excited and honoured to join @glblctzn for One World: #TogetherAtHome. The historic special will include leading global health experts and performances from the world’s top artists and comedians, in support of @WHO’s Solidarity Response Fund. Tune in on April 18!”

Nialler will also make an appearance, adding that: “a lot of incredible people are involved, it’s not one to miss”.

A host of other big names in the music and celebrity world have already been announced for the show, including Chris Martin, Elton John, David Beckham, Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Joe Armstrong, Idris and Sabrina Elba, John Legend, Lizzo, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder… to name but a few.

The special event will include stories from the world’s healthcare heroes battling the spread of coronavirus, as well as messages of thanks and appreciation from those they have helped and informative segments from WHO and UN global health experts.

Communications company Teneo, will co-ordinate the event with Irish Ceo Declan Kelly acting as exec producer for the whole thing. Speaking of the event, Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen said:

“As we honour and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, ‘One World: Together At Home’ aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end Covid-19.

Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s.”

Donations from supporters and corporate sponsors will go to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund to support and equip healthcare workers around the world, and to local charities that provide food and shelter to those that need it most.

The global special will be televised on RTE this Sunday, April 19th.
