Here’s Why It’s Imperative You Do NOT Wear Your Repeal Jumper To Vote Next Week

Megan Cassidy

Only a week to go until polling stations kick into action for the Eighth Amendment Referendum. You’re registered and ready to go – but don’t make a vital mistake that could mean you are turned away from the station.

Many Pro-Choice voters have been championing the movement by wearing Repeal jumpers over the last few weeks and months, and while it’s a fantastic way to amplify the movement on the ground, it’s imperative that you take it off before making your way to the polling station on Friday May 25.

Anything that is deemed as campaign material or canvassing behaviour at a polling station is forbidden, and facilitators reserve the right to refuse entry to vote.

This applies to badges, posters, jumpers, or any emblems within 50 metres of the polling station.

If you’re stuck for a lift to your polling station, worth noting that Lynk is offering free taxis on the day if you download their app.

And remember – no selfies either.
