If you’re like me, you often wonder what happens to all the food that doesn’t get sold in a shop or café. Unfortunately the long and short of it is that a lot of that food goes to waste, and over time that waste builds up in a significant way. That’s why Too Good To Go is such a good app, where you can rescue food that’s otherwise destined for the bin.
The website concisely describes Too Good To Go’s purpose as such:
“The Too Good To Go app lets you buy and collect this food – at a great price – so it gets eaten instead of wasted. You won’t know exactly what’s in your order until you pick it up – it’s all part of the surprise.”

Too Good To Go was founded in Denmark in 2015 and slowly but surely began expanding all over Europe. They launched in Ireland, in Dublin specifically in September 2021, and since then have popped up in Cork and in Galway too. According to their site, over a third of all food is wasted, but Too Good To Go has saved 127 million meals in the last seven years, with 54.6 million people getting involved through the app.
Dublin vegan restaurant Cornucopia described the app as, “such a positive addition to our business“.

You can add certain cafés and restaurants to your favourites list if you’re a particular fan of their food.
I honestly don’t see a downside to this. Who doesn’t want massively reduced delicious food whilst also reducing food waste. You can download the app HERE.
